About Kaarteeka Yagyas
Lord Shiva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being and is considered the demolish-er of all negative forces. He defends devotees from bad forces and probable dangers. Shiva is the Divine Cosmic Dancer and the source of fruitfulness in all living beings, both the Rudrabhishekam Puja and Yagya are done by our well-trained Vedic Pundits with full dedication for the fulfillment of one’s aspirations under the guidance of Pundit Sharma Samavedula.
In this special puja, we worship Lord Shiva as “Maha Linga.” In this specific form of Yagya, we make 365 small clay Lingams and we organize them into one giant Linga form. Then, we worship Lord Shiva in 11 Avaranas (enclosures). In the middle of the Shiva Linga, we do Abhishekam for Shiva and Shakti together.
The most significant aspect of this form of worshiping is that one can be dramatically benefited karmically by doing this daily Shiva Abhishekam. This puja is prescribed to perform especially in the month of Kartika. This is why Pandit Samavedula (Yagya Centre) is organizing this special form of Yagya in order to benefit the sponsors. Abhishekam will be performed with Panchamrutams and 21 different kinds of ingredients along with the daily Pasupata Yagyas listed below.
November 16th, 23rd, 30th, and December 7th & 14th.
Laksha Bilwarchana is one of the most auspicious and powerful Yagyas. Offering Bilva leaves to Lord Shiva is considered very sacred and medicinal. Shiva and Shakti are one and the same. They are the creators and Divine parents of the universe. Together, they represent the Purusha (Shiva) and Prakriti (Shakti). Offering Bilva Patra to Shiva and Shakti in the month of Kartika is considered the most sacred offering to Shiva and Shakti. The leaves of this Bilva tree have a great impact in worshiping Lord Shiva and Vishnu.
Bilva leaves are trifoliate by nature, resembling a trident, and representing the three gods Brahma (Creator), Vishnu (Preserver), and Shiva (Destroyer), or the three Gunas: Satva, Rajas, and Tamas. According to the ‘Sri Sookta’ these leaves are born from the penance of Goddess Mahalakshmi. Hence these leaves are dearest to Lord Vishnu.
According to the Skanda Purana, the Bilva tree grew from the sweat droplets of Goddess Parvati which fell on the “Mandrachal mountain”. From there the Bilwa tree emerged. She resides as Girija in the roots of the tree, as Maheshwari in its trunk, as Dakshayani in its branches, Parvati in its leaves, Katyayani in its fruit and as Gauri in its flowers. Therefore as Parvati resides in Her various forms in this tree, Shiva is extremely fond of its leaves. It is a symbol of Shiva. Offering one bilva leaf is equivalent to offering a 1000 lotuses, says the Siva Purana.
Bilvanam darshanam punyam sparshanam papa nashanam
Aghora papa samharam eka bilvam shivarpanam
I offer one leaf of Bilwa to Lord Shiva, As seeing and touching of a tree of Bilwa,
Washes away ones sins and also very great sins.
